Enjoy local, enjoy Elwood
We have recently read in a report from Commonwealth Bank that more than half of Australian shoppers prefer to make their usual expenses in local businesses and buy locally sourced products. This encourages us a lot, although we hope that the percentage will rise, to maintain and improve living conditions in our neighborhood and keep its value as a residential area high.
This report also shows 25% of Australians have increased their online purchases from Australian online retailers and this 2020 trend seems to continue to increase. We are sure that online shopping is a very useful and necessary complement, but to keep local commerce alive is the best choice for everyone of us, since it is closely related to the use of our parks and walking and sports areas, to the good atmosphere in our streets and a healthy social life.
We have recently adapted some of our illustrations at the request of the Elwood Village Traders Association, which is why you will see these colorful stickers on the floors and shop windows of our neighborhood, with messages that remind us of the joy of celebrating, enjoying and eating without having to leave a neighborhood as cute and lively as Elwood.
